This romance fan possesses few passions that only "force majeure"
could stop, two of which are shopping (I love shoes) and reading
romances. Invariably, a bookstore crosses my path while I'm
running errands. At the nearby mall, I always visit the bookstore
to see if a novel I've been waiting for has arrived or to pick up
books I've already ordered. The bookseller knows me by name and
is a romance fan herself. Recently, I had the joy of telling her
I sold my first romance novel. She nearly hopped over the counter
to hug me.
On any given visit, I leave the bookstore with a shopping bag
filled with my newest treasures. And then it's off to find more
shoes. Shoes and romance novels? Oh, yes. They occupy special
places in my closets. Comfy shoes pamper my feet while romance
novels pamper my heart. When I read that last page and experience
the empowerment of a woman, I feel fuzzy and warm.
Oh, and the closet space? My husband used to have two, but now
he's down to one
