I guess our ex-president cares more for those wounded in Ft. Hood then the O.

but martha, he's busy. he's trying to pass health care, decide what to do about afgah, promote the demo's, run the country.
he can't be running down here to texas because some soldiers get killed.

I know everyone will consider it nitpicking...
My dad is Cherokee. Maybe a third of my family (cousins, aunts, uncles, my grandmother before she passed) lived or lives either on a reservation or near it.
The fact that he made little jokes and platitudes about his conference to the first nations BEFORE EVEN ADDRESSING FORT HOOD made me and my LIFE-TIME MILITARY RETIRED VET DAD sick.
I don't even think it was intentional. He's that clueless, sloppy, and inexperienced. _________________ http://www.christineolinger.com

It made a lot of people in my family that are military angry as well. Obozo is very insensative. _________________ Faith sees the invisible, believes the unbelievable, and receives the impossible. |

our best friends in oklahoma are i think, cherokee, but i'm not sure. they also have a son, an officer in the army.
they said they could not believe he only spoke a minute or two about ft hood and said something like "let's not go crazy, let's be rationale, etc' or something to that effect. the conference was just another camera opt.
then he on talking about something else.
but you have to give credit to President and Lara Bush. They went on friday, the next day, and spent a considerable amount of time at the hospital and visiting with the families. they asked for no coverage and no press.
sorry, gang, but that says volumes. _________________ i could not love thee, dear, so much, loved i not honour more |

Lets see how many times did Bush go to Dover to pay his respects to the coffins of soldiers that he sent into an unnecessary war in Iraq.......none. _________________ Save the Earth: it's the only place with chocolate. |

He probably did it but unlike Obama didn't use it as a photo op. How about those soldiers being killed in Afghanistan? Obama is sending them there on a unnecessary war. We're still in Iraq. Didn't he promise to bring the soldiers back from Iraq? Like always you guys are clueless and don't have a leg to stand on. _________________ Faith sees the invisible, believes the unbelievable, and receives the impossible. |

He "probably did it"? No he did not. Not once.
Ahhh, you mean unlike the photo-op of "Mission Accomplished" when it wasn't. Yeah, that was some flashy photo-op, too bad it wasn't true. _________________ Save the Earth: it's the only place with chocolate. |

You're right, it's nitpicking. There's nothing Obama could do that you guys wouldn't criticize, so such criticism comes off as pretty small. |

Actually he will go to TX, it will be announced, he'll probably slightly delay his Tokyo trip. And let's be honest here, Bush is right there living in TX now. _________________ We are the ones we have been waiting for. - Hopi Elders

considering the scope of this travesty, he should have come down here.
yes, bush is closer, but hey let's face it. bush cares more about the military than o does.
when soldiers die on us soil, the president should appear, considering how many died.
i don't look for him to come down here.
it's already been several days and he's not mentioned it again, not once.
oh well, business as usual.
let's all do healthcare. _________________ i could not love thee, dear, so much, loved i not honour more |

I will also point out that the victims' families asked NOT to have visits to the caskets... and that many, many military families prefer no Dover visits from officials.
If it were my family I would really not want them exploited that way. Which is why I don't think Obama's visit was appropriate and thought Bush and others were right to stay away.
It should be a private moment, not a photo-op. _________________ http://www.christineolinger.com

Point out what you want, it isn't completely true.
The Griffen family gave their permission for the transfer of their son's body be filmed, and that was all that was filmed.
Again, as for photo-ops you can't compare with what Bush did.

Absolutely, lets do health care since thousands die each year from lack of health care. _________________ Save the Earth: it's the only place with chocolate. |

attending a memorial service after the fact where the press would all be available is not the same thing as visiting the families and the wounded in the hospital.
i guess we have to agree to disagree on this one. _________________ i could not love thee, dear, so much, loved i not honour more |

If the families don't want press there, they probably won't be. And the President can hardly drop everything on his schedule to rush off, but I'm sure if he's at the fort he'll stop in at the hospital too. _________________ We are the ones we have been waiting for. - Hopi Elders

Yes, we can agree to disagree. Again, how many times did Bush pay his respects to any of the fallen at Dover? None.
When Katrina hit, the city of NO was decimated, then two days later Bush did a fly over. That was some photo-op. _________________ Save the Earth: it's the only place with chocolate. |
