Okay, if I have another post appear, forgive me. I'm not sure what happened. I was typing away with an answer and suddenly it was gone.
About Charlie. I wish I could have been the one to find him. I'm a sucker for lost dogs. I nearly brought a stray home from church last night. A sweet brindled dog with a gentle face and great disposition. Since I didn't bring him home, I piled dogfood at my brother's house, led the dog down there and told him it was his new home.
They only have one dog, I have 3.
Continuity details are set. That's the best way to make sure the threads are all tied up, nothing left dangling or unsolved. The great thing is we get to write the story as we see it. And I really loved being able to write a story about a couple finding their way back to love and marriage.

| I didn't know that there was a historical part of the After the Storm series. Have any of those books been published yet? Thanks, Robin |

The historical series is set to follow the contemporary. Here's the pub schedule:
High Plains Bride by Valerie Hansen, January 2010
Heartland Wedding by Renee Ryan, February 2010
Kansas Courtship by Victoria Bylin, March 2010
The set-up is similar to the contemporary. A tornado does serious damage to the new town of High Plains and the people have to rebuild. No lost dogs, though! Waving at Julie here . . . no time travel either! _________________ Vicki w/a Victoria Bylin

I just finished the 4th book 'the Matchmaking Pact' I think it's called. The female character sounded like one Brenda would've written about! No doggie found here either..sigh... _________________ Susanna |

J,
I'm guessing she's in the book club; and the books come 2 months early!
Hope you're weekend is off to a great start.
And no dog yet. Very sad that the poor thing is out there alone. (this from the person who buys food for the strays that wander by)

I got mine from someone on paperbackswap so I'm assuming she's in the bookclub. I didn't even notice the date til I noticed the cover looked like fall(and its in the 90s /100s here!) so I checked out the date! _________________ Susanna |

I finished the Matchmaking Pact as well. Loved the heroine in this one and she really mirrored what so many of us do, over volunteer to make up for our guilt over our past lives. Made me like her even more.
But no mention of Charlie the Dog.
Looking forward to November's release, A Family for Thanksgiving by Patricia Davids, about the mystery toddler and the woman who cares for her.

I finally finished the series yeah! felt weird reading a Christmas book this close to Thanksgiving. guess the person I got them from on paperbackswap is in the club and got them early. I wasn't entirely thrilled with the ending (nothing bad just wanted a bit more detail LOL!) but the poor woman had a lot to tie up that's for sure!
anyways it was a nice series and I usually don't like kids in my romance books but I did't find the kids in this series irritating for some reason! _________________ Susanna |

I am waiting for the Nov. entry to get to me and I haven't ordered the December books yet...hard to believe it is almost over already.
Yep, I can see where it would be hard to be the author to tie up everyone else's loose ends.
They better do Charlie justice!

well I really wanted more of Charlie but oh well she focused on the babies..guess to really discuss it without spoilers I'll have to wait til everyone in the thread has read the last 2..sigh..I think she must've been tying in the upcoming historicals also since the missing ring is discussed and a bit of family history..but as I said she had a lot to tie up as well as fitting in a new romance. _________________ Susanna |

I am in the process of reading A Family for Thanksgiving by Patricia Davids. I like her style even if the story is a bit slow for me. At least she mentions poor Tommy looking for his doggie. And I do like the hero and heroine.
I would much rather be the writer who has to set up the story than the one who has to end it...what a challenge. I am looking forward to the historicals as well. I didn't think about them tying them in, in the contemporaries.

Just finished A Family for Thanksgiving...I like Pat Davids suspense books so figures I would admire her writing of certain scenes that showed her writing style. Now just to get Jingle Bell Babies and find out what happened to Charlie the dog.

Fortunately the series assignment comes with what's called a "bible." It gives a basic outline for the continuity elements, i.e., Charlie's dog, the Logan family ring, and it points to an ending. Things get tweaked as the authors work together, but everyone's aiming at the same conclusion.
I've loved reading the contemporary series . . . Patricia's book is definitely starting to set up the historicals with the reference to the ring and the mention of distant relatives Will Logan and Zeb Garrison. There's no Charlie the dog in the LIHs, but if I'd known about him, I'd have given Zeb a dog and made him Charlie's great-great granddog, kind of like Rin Tin Tin. _________________ Vicki w/a Victoria Bylin
