Exciting new author Cara Colter leads off a strong month for Silhouette Romance with BABY IN BLUE (4.5). Repressing her painful past, a spirited psychic is attracted to a rugged police officer and his adorable infant niece. Ms. Colter's well-written, heartwarming love story is filled with vivid imagery, richly shaded characters and powerful emotional intensity. DADDY ON THE RUN (4) by Carla Cassidy. Returning home after four months in hiding, a handsome executive tries to convince his lovely wife to give their love a second chance. Marvelous sensual tension, strong characters, smooth pacing and just a dash of intrigue all combine to make this a real reader treat. Toni Collins charms us with humor and romance in WILLFULLY WED (4). A spunky photographer and a sinfully sexy investigator clash in a most delightful way when she hires him to track down a mysterious benefactor. Featuring a deliciously offbeat heroine, quick-witted dialogue and a strong conflict, Ms. Collins' newest offering is a sure winner. Next up is talented Moyra Tarling with TWICE A FATHER (3). It's time for fireworks when a lovely innkeeper and a handsome doctor meet again after ten years, even though she hides a secret that might ruin their relationship before it ever gets started again. While the conflict could have been resolved by a single conversation, Ms. Tarling's writing style, strong characters and sharp pacing make good reading again. Elizabeth August takes her story right off the front pages in A HANDY MAN TO HAVE AROUND (2). When a lovely writer is victimized by a stalker, a striking handyman becomes her unexpected protector. Although the romance is only minimal, Ms. August rewards readers with unique characters, crisp writing and a humorous glimpse of emotional crystals. Maris Soule wraps up the month with SUBSTITUTE MOM (2), the engaging love story of a lovely writer who falls hook, line and sinker for the little boy in her temporary custody and his handsome dad. Although the secondary characters are not particularly strong and the intrigue is weak, Ms. Soule pens a nicely-written romance to please fans.
