DEAD AND KICKING
by Wendy Roberts

RT Rating:
Category: MYSTERY
Publisher: OBSIDIAN
Published: December 2009
Type: Amateur Sleuth, Paranormal, Series

The Ghost Dusters series is getting stronger with each book. This is the third entry, and although Sadie can be a little melodramatic at times, she's easy to relate to. Her ability to talk to the dead adds many layers to both plot and character, and she handles it realistically. Sometimes she's joyful about it, sometimes she's dismayed, but always with a wit that makes her funny. Many of the secondary characters stand out, such as Sadie's sister, Dawn. This captivating, scary story comes to a very satisfying conclusion.

Summary: Sadie Novak deals in blood, guts and gore: She cleans up crime scenes for a living. As if that weren't enough, the ghosts stick around and talk to her. That's where her real talent lies: helping those who have passed go over to the other side. When Sadie realizes her boyfriend Zack has been lying to her, and there's a very unhappy ghost at one of her jobs, what's a girl to do? Sadie must uncover several unbecoming truths -- some that people would do anything to keep buried. (OBSIDIAN, Dec., 288 pp., $6.99)
