THE HERO OF AGES
by Brandon Sanderson

RT Rating: ½G
Category: FANTASY
Publisher: TOR
Published: October 2008
Type: Fantasy

Sanderson is an evil genius. There is simply no other way to describe what he's managed to pull off in this transcendent final volume in his Mistborn trilogy. All the familiar ideas and plots from epic fantasy have been turned inside out, and what happens at the end is utterly astounding in its audacity. The characterization is stellar, the worldbuilding solid and the plot intricate and compelling -- if you haven't read the first two books, go and do so immediately, then buy this one. You won't regret it.

Summary: he world is ending. Ash is falling from the sky, the mists are killing people apparently at random, and it's taking everything in Vin and Elend's power to hold their country together. They travel from city to city, uncovering information that will help them in their fight against Ruin, the destructive power unleashed from the Well of Ascension. Vin, consumed with guilt at her role in the end of the world, resolves to stop it, even though it seems impossible -- for Ruin is everywhere. (Tor, Oct., 576 pp., $27.95)
