| How could trailing the exploits of
a chronic wedding-goer not be fun? Unfortunately, that's the case with Reichs's debut novel. The writing is unpolished and not engaging for the most part. It takes too long for the
plot, which is flimsy at best, to get going. The novel picks up speed
toward the middle, but by then it's
too little too late.
Summary: Vi is an unflagging optimist who is often disappointed when one
of her friends becomes engaged to someone who may not be the "ideal" partner. Invited to a startling number
of weddings, she determines that it
is high time she found the man of her dreams. Will this ever happen, especially since she cannot keep her mind from constantly drifting over to the first love of her life? (Avon A, May, 384 pp., $13.95)
