FLIGHT
by Janet Lane Walters

RT Rating:
Category: FANTASY
Publisher: Mundania
Published: September 2007
Type: Fantasy (Young Adult)

In Walters' interesting fantasy world, magic is accepted but not openly used. Each chapter contains sections from each of the different characters' points of view, and it moves along smoothly. This series first ends nicely and leaves the reader ready to see what happens next.

Summary: Betrayed by one allied with the darkness, the Henge is destroyed, and the parents of Brandien, Ashlea, Jayden and Kylandra are gone. Sent off to the city of Cedris to find safety before the attack, the siblings find they must use their powers to survive. Each has an affinity for an element: water, air, earth and fire.

On their journey they meet a boy who has lost his memory, but it's not long until they discover he's actually Prince Alizand, who was attempting to run away, but who now must return to the palace in Cedris. As for the siblings, Cedris does not hold the safety they had hoped for, and they must decide where to go next. (Mundania, Sep., 232 pp., $13.95)
