SECRET OF THE SANDS
by Cynthia A. Derosier

RT Rating:
Category: PARANORMAL ROMANCE
Publisher: iUniverse
Published: September 2007
Type: Futuristic

Although the plot is a unique blend of romance, aliens and religion, the execution of this tale is below par. The dialogue is stilted and incorrectly tagged throughout the story, tenses slip back and forth between past and present, and the story is told to the reader instead of revealed through the actions of the characters. The hero and heroine are not fully developed, although the hero fares better than his counterpart.

Summary: In 2012, a mysterious tablet is discovered in Egypt, while in the U.S., there's a massive shift in weather patterns. Kelly Edwards embarks on a vacation to an Egyptian oasis with a nomadic tribe. Strangers try to warn her off, but she gets to safety, and one of the tribe's guards, Rashad, falls in love with her and proposes. Unsure, Kelly postpones answering him when she's whisked back to America.

Jeff Hunter helps a friend decipher an ancient text about a site that needs to be recovered. Traveling to Egypt, he finds an image of Kelly, who he met at a ski resort, on the side of the long-buried structure. Rashad is sent to get Kelly, who agrees to marry him. But soon the excavators discover Jeff and Kelly are the chosen ones -- who must marry to save humanity. (iUniverse, Sep., 133 pp., $11.95) HOT
