A CERTAIN WANT OF REASON
by Kate Dolan

RT Rating:
Category: REGENCY
Setting: 1816 London
Publisher: CerridwenPress.com
Published: June 2007
Type: E-book (Regency Romance)

A groom-to-be who will go to any length to get out of an engagement may not sound like an ingenious premise, but Dolan's version is fun. The heroine has troubles -- a brother and sister who both have mental health issues -- but that lends credence to her emotional responses to the hero.

Summary: For the first time in years, Lucia is in London for the season and a well-deserved vacation from her eccentric siblings. But her first night out is ruined when she destroys her dress on a coat of armor and meets a man who barks like a dog in company.

But the handsome lord shows her a sane side. Before she can explore the intriguing facets of Edmund, her brother, in a fit of confusion, stabs him in the leg. Since the lord is acting the part of an insane man at the time, both men end up in an institution for the mentally ill.

When the letter Edmund sends, via his valet, proving he is truly sane falls into the hands of his irate fiancee, she hatches a plot that will win her his title, money -- and widowhood. Meanwhile, Lucia is desperate to get her brother released and fights to protect Edmund, whom she has come to love. (Cerridwenpress.com, dl $5.95) MILD
