Category: CONTEMPORARY ROMANCE

Type: Contemporary Romance

This book's main storyline, the struggles of a single mother trying to make a better life for her son, is a prevalent one in today's society and is all too easily identified with. Also, the May– December storyline adds a different element to the novel and helps to make this an enjoyable, easy read.

Summary: Single mother Joanne is trying to raise her young son, Joey, in an undesirable part of Tampa, while hoping someday to be able to afford a better life for them both. After being accosted one evening by some troublemakers living in her complex, she meets Roy, a police officer with troubles of his own.

The attraction between the two is instantaneous, and Joey is also fascinated with Roy. Both fight the attraction, Joanne because of her fear of Roy's job and Roy because of a tragedy in his past and their difference in age. As both struggles with their fears and warily find their way to the other, they soon realize that love can indeed overcome most obstacles. (Mundania, May, 289 pp., $11.95) MILD
