FIRE GRIFFIN
by Jane Toombs

RT Rating:
Category: FANTASY
Publisher: www.novelbooksinc.com
Published: May 2004
Type: Fantasy (E-book)

Toombs' novel begins in New York, where friends at an annual Leonid party witness a spectacular meteor shower. After investigating a meteor that lands close by, Seth, his girlfriend, Kara, and 14-year-old Danny find three alien eggs.

As they hatch, they disrupt and change the lives of those who found them. The aliens are symbiotes—sentient beings who must bond with their hosts or die.

The characters in book one of the Far Darkness trilogy are well developed, from Danny's enthusiasm to Kara's disbelief as they learn to accept that their lives are now shared with a symbiote. This complex, well-plotted book explains how the aliens survive and multiply. Book two should prove interesting. (dl $5.50)
