Author Alice Hoffman's Twitter Freakout

from The Afterword, 6/29/09:
"Boston-area writer Alice Hoffman has a new book out, THE STORY SISTERS, and the reviews have been fairly decent. But she doesn't seem to have appreciated the attentions of Roberta Silman, a correspondent at the Boston Globe who dished out a moderately unloving review. ...Ms. Hoffman went ballistic on Twitter...which began Sunday morning (4 a.m. Tweets? You know that's ill-considered)...here's the gist:
'Roberta Silman in the Boston Globe is a moron. How do some people get to review books? And give the plot away.'
'My single bad review in my hometown. This is a town where a barking dog is the second top story on the news'
'I guess that's why the Times is getting rid of the Globe. They read the reviews.'
'Interesting, reviewers can say what they want. But when writers speak up they're going after reviewers.'"
Alice Hoffman deleted her Twitter account today, but you can visit The Afterword and Gawker for screenshots of her Tweets.
