I grew up reading Harlequin and Silhouette romances. The strong women who expected nothing less than total love and respect from the men they fell in love with gave me strength and encouragement to expect the same from the man I fell in love with. Frankly, it was a far different world than the one a couple of generations before me when the women in my family looked for good providers and hoped they guessed right the first time around.
We've come a long way, and so has Harlequin/Silhouette. Now, they have books for all aspects of my life and my escapist moments, too, when I need to take a break from real life.

In my gratitude and admiration, I've built a website for fans of Harlequin books: HSReaders.com. The site has all the latest books for all of the lines, including Harlequin, Silhouette, Kimani and Steeple Hill. I've got links to the Larger Print books and to the e-books as well as the traditional print books so that each reader can pick her personal preference. Readers can rate their favorite books and leave comments. They can also enter contests.
CONTEST:
To honor Harlequin, I'm running a contest to win a full dozen of my favorite Harlequin Presents. This is one of the original Mills and Boons series. It is the second oldest (Harlequin Romance is older by a smidge) and the most popular series to date. Some of the stories are very traditional and others break the mold--just like us readers!
HSReaders.com is my love letter to Harlequin/Silhouette. Drop by, look around and enter the contest.
Thanks to all the authors of Harlequin and Silhouette who open their hearts and open my mind with their stories.

Connie! Connie! Connie! - that was my chant for being defender of the faith. Romance will always be my "go to" genre for a great story and warm fuzzy feeling.
I grew up inhaling Superromances - oh, those tormented concert pianists and the women who loved them! Not to mention the M&B nurse books (I seriously wanted one of those capes and nurse hats.) I still love the Harlequins of today - one's on my nightstand now.
Nice site, Connie. Well organized and upbeat look to it.
Your appreciation for Harlequin books is well-founded, Connie. Harleqin is currently one of the few publishers making a profit. In the current economy, people worldwide are reaching for stories that turn out "right" in the end, those with an upbeat message. Romance novels soothe sore spirits, which isn't a bad reason for writing them as well as reading them.
Interesting sidelight on these books. The original Harlequin Presents, with traditional story lines that stop short at the bedroom door, still outsell other lines, particularly in Europe. Makes you think, doesn't it?
