Workshop Featuring Christie Craig and Faye Hughes

(pictured: Christie Craig's Suitcase o' Rejection, click for larger version)
Whenever I hear that Christie Craig and Faye Hughes are giving a workshop, I always go out of my way to attend. These ladies provide concrete examples (and great handouts!) on how to improve one's writing career. Last year at RT, I learned some great tips on how to find an agent and this year the duo shared how to tackle the first chapter.
And as always, with Christie and Faye, comes Christie's suitcase o' rejection, filled with many, many (many, many) rejection letters this now-successful and multipublished author received along her own rocky path to publication. "A rejection is like somebody telling you your baby is ugly," she say. But, Craig also points out, if enough people tell you your baby is ugly, then maybe "your baby needs a nose job." The author adds, "if you want it, you just don't give up."
A suitcase full of examples to live by!

Thanks, Elissa! Christie and I really appreciate your kind words about our workshop. I've seen Christie do her suitcase o'rejections several times but it still gives me chills - what an inspiratgion she is!
We are having a blast at the conference and we're about to head out for breakfast before the booksigning.
Oh, one final thing for aspiring authors - Christie and I are doing an online version of the workshop (The Balancing Act of the First Chapter) for Colorado Romance Authors in September. www.coloradoromancewriters.org.

Elissa,
I love talking about writing and inspiring writers almost as much as much as I love writing.
Thank you so much for the post. We are having a wonderful time. Thank you and everyone who worked so hard to bring this conference together.

This was probably the best and most useful workshop I took throughout the entire convention (I also took the advance writer program, which was pretty great). I would highly recommend this seminar to any aspiring author.
(oh, and that's my foot propped up on the chair in the bottom right corner)
