Inspirational Workshop - Resurrecting the Muse
Inspiration was the theme of the day yesterday as workshops encouraged writers -- aspiring and already published -- to keep that dream alive!
In Debra Parmley and Gerri Russell's workshop on Resurrecting the Muse, the former American Title participants stressed the importance of perseverance. "It only takes one yes to change your life -- you've just got to get through those no's," said Parmley. Russell advised a three-pronged process: Discipline, setting goals, and then -- just do it.
Denise Swanson also encouraged writers to keep on keepin' on in her workshop on character development. The retired school psychologist provided attendees with a detailed questionnaire she often used in her day job as a tool to more fully flesh out characters.
