American Title Report
For nearly the whole run of our American Title contest (cosponsored by Dorchester Publishing), I have been in charge of coordinating the contestants and rounds.
It's hard to bid farewell to the contest -- American Title V is the final chapter -- but I must say I am so proud of all the contestants!
Raz Steel, for instance. He competed in the paranormal, but later got a contract. Raz held a fantastic workshop at RT about PMS, phony male syndrome, in fiction. What a smartie he is! It was like going to a psych class in college with the coolest professor on campus.
And Judi Fennell. Judi is tireless and so enthusiastic about her books and MER SEX. She's here at the convention, handing out goody bags and talking about her book.
Helen Scott Taylor, who won AT IV, is here with her adorable hubby Glin and reports that her second book is coming out soon from Love Spell.
The two AT V finalists are here also, and they are adorable. Tamara Hughes brought her sister and Marie-Claude Bourque brought Canadian TV reporters!
Jenny Gardiner couldn't make it, and I miss her raucous sense of humor. She's got a comic nonfic about her pet parrot coming out soon.
There are so many others with their own success stories, large and small. I feel proud to have worked with all of them and to be able to say, "I knew her (or him) back when."
And this afternoon at the convention, we'll be awarding the winner of the last American Title... but as I have said to every contestant, you are all winners to make it this far.
Hugs,
AT den mother Liz

Awww...I'm sorry I'm not there with the gang! We're off to go see my daughter sing at the All States concert, which is why I had to miss the conference. And I heard I missed out on an actual pool bar! Sheesh, leave it to me to miss the RT in a warm climate! Have FUN!
RT Liz says:
We forgive you for not showing, Jenny.
The pool bar was awesome, the venue was great, the people were good vibey!
PS: I forgot to shout out to Janice Lynn, who underwent major transformations for every party; Gerri Russell, who is so focused and in charge of her career; the lovely Debra Parmley, who was hawking her book at our Book Fair on Saturday; and Linda Thomas-Sundstrom and Kathy Baccus, both of whom did not attend RT but were specifically mentioned by Dorchester Editor Leah Hultenschmidt at the RT Awards ceremony.
waving madly at 2:25 am after driving 16 hours home...
Great seeing all of you. I had a blast!! Can't wait for next year - and there are tons of photos on my blog (and one of you, Liz!)
