I love RT Convention! You never know who you’ll meet. For example, right now I’m sitting next to Heather Graham typing this blog! Insert fangirl squee here…

I also won a Career Achievement Award Friday, which totally stunned me. I have been a devoted reader of RT since the 1980s, when I used to sit in the food court of the mall and devour the latest reviews, looking to see which books were scheduled to come out. So to be honored by RT after so many years of being a fan – well, it’s a dream come true.

I am just as fond of the convention itself. My husband and I have attended several RT conventions, and we always have a ball. It’s just such fun meeting the fans and booksellers, who are always so kind to me. I love talking to them and signing books - it’s the most enormous rush you can imagine. Being a promotion ‘ho, I seized the opportunity to tell everybody about my new series, TIME HUNTERS: WARRIOR, coming in July from Berkley. Genetically engineered studs leaping through time solving crimes. I’m hoping people will enjoy it.

And then there’s the costume balls. I always get a huge kick out of seeing what creative, clever costumes people put together. Tawny Taylor, for example, wore this glorious nineteenth century gown to the faery ball with seashells worked into her hair. She’s so gorgeous – I could hate her if she wasn’t so nice.

I also participated in three panels and moderated a fourth. J.R. Ward and her crit partner Jessica Andersen were on one of them with me, which was huge fun. I adore J.R.’s Brotherhood of the Black Dagger series. We also ran into one of the cover models who was a dead ringer for one of the Brothers. He was 6’4 or so with shoulders four feet wide. I gaped at him shamelessly.

Oh, and I made Barry Eisler blush during the erotica panel opining on the subject of my favorite dirty words to use in love scenes. That was fun. He was such a good sport about it – not to mention so darned cute – that I had to buy his book during the book fair. I can’t wait to read it. I have a feeling it’s going to be really good.

I understand next year’s event is going to be in Orlando. I can’t wait! See you then!
