Winners for the Anita Blake, Manga and Buffy Contests

In our March issue we ran a feature on Graphic Novels for Women and also ran a series of contests to win: a piece of original Buffy the Vampire Slayer art; a piece of original Anita Blake artwork; 10 subscriptions to the new Buffy comic series; 10 subscriptions to the Anita Blake comic series and 10 sets of six Manga graphic novels from Harlequin.

We recently selected the winners and it was so much fun.

We put all of the entries into a big box and we all got to select winners. It was great to read the passionate and enthusiastic notes from all who entered about why they wanted to win and we were particularly thrilled about one of the Grand Prize winners (who won the Anita Blake artwork) who is a HUGE fan. Here is her note: “I would treasure a piece of original art that has anything to do with Anita Blake! So far I have every issue of the comic and I am now friends with our local comic bookstore owner.”

The winners are being contacted and will be announced in the July issue.

Thanks to all for entering,

RT's Houston Convention - mention one of the radio stations and get into the Book Fair for FREE

It won't be long before booklovers from around the country (and the world) converge on Houston for the BOOKLOVER EVENT of the year.

If you live in the Houston area I hope you will come down for the Giant Book Fair where you will meet over 300 authors!!! New to our convention this year are Urban Fantasy authors Jim Butcher and Rachel Caine who are looking forward to meeting fans.

Returning this year are Virginia Henley and Sharon Sala who haven't been to one in a while but are very excited to be back with romance fans and friends.

We have already began our promotion in the Houston area and here is a link to some interviews that will be airing on the radio the week of the convention. (Heather Graham, Sharon Sala aka Dinah McCall, Jim Butcher and Kathryn Falk, founder of RT BOOKreviews magazine and the BOOKLOVERS Convention)

The interviews are on the right side. Kathryn's is midway down and the others are near the bottom.

Mention any of the three stations at the door and you can get into the Book Fair for FREE!

KHMX Mix 96.5
100.3 KILT FM(Country)
KHJZ Smooth Jazz, 95.7 The Wave

The Book Fair is at the Hyatt Regency Hotel
1200 Louisiana St., downtown Houston.
Saturday April 28th, 11am-2pm.

Please come and enjoy the day. And bring friends!!!!

Robin Schone Fans Rejoice!

Robin called with the exciting news that she has signed with Berkley Sensation editor Kate Seaver for a two book deal plus a novella which will be in an upcoming anthology.

You may recall that Robin's career was on hold for over 4 years when she and Kensington Books were in a dispute and until it was settled she could not write for any other publishers.

Last year the dispute was settled and Kensington finally published her last book for them, SCANDALOUS LOVERS, in February 2007. (it received a Top Pick from our reviewer).

If this sounds familiar it's because Dara Joy went through a similar situation with Dorchester but unfortunately Dara has yet to come out the other end of this dispute and has dropped off the face of the earth. Fans write in to say they have tried to reach her but to no avail. We too have tried to reach her but without success.

I think it is fantastic that Robin has been out of the publishing arena for so long yet her fans have never abandoned her. At our RT convention in St. Louis (April 2005) I was amazed to see a group of her loyal fans show us with t-shirts that said something like, "I'm a Robin Schone Fan." These are readers who chat on her message boards where Robin can often be found. And when they heard she was coming to the RT convention they flocked to be with her.

Robin "hung out" with her fans even though she was not pushing a book! Kudos to Robin for making a strong comeback and for respecting her fans because as we all know some authors don't even answer email.

I look forward to her wonderful "hot," ground-breaking historical romances and I wish her all the best.
