NaNo Blog -- Week One
The air at RT headquarters is crackling with excitement today, November 1st, as Associate Editors Stephanie Klose and Elissa Petruzzi embark on the madcap adventure that is National Novel Writing Month. NaNo, as it is known to participants, is the month-long kamikaze novel writing spree, where more than 70,000 would-be novelists around the globe attempt to write a 50,000 word novel in 30 days.
Here at RT, we've already gotten started! Stephanie's time-travel chicklit and Elissa's black comedy YA are nearing the page-long mark and it's not even noon yet. It's like we're almost done! Accustomed to writing author features and more fact-based prose, it is both exhilarating and nerve-wracking to be tackling something this big. But we are excited about not having to fact check our work, instead we just get to make stuff up! Now if only we knew where our stories were going ...
We'll be keeping you updated here each week on our progress, if you are also participating in NaNo, feel free to comment and let us know how you're doing. We hear that lots of encouragement is great for keeping up morale on this mission.

Ah! That means I am behind!!
As soon as my 9 mo old kid hits the sheets for his nap, I am popping in Shrek 2 for my 2.5 yr old and I am going to bust out my 2000 words for the day!!
I think my book is going to fall under the chick-lit genre too. (?) Who knows - by the time I get done it might be erotica! Ha! Depends on my mood I guess and how nice my husband is during the month!
Oooooooookay. Read this and weep ladies!
Chapter one of twenty-four completed at 2,012 words. :-)
Ah, NaNo... the voluntary insanity I put myself through every year. I did 2k words today, and I'm feeling pretty snazzy about that. ^_^
Hmm. Day two did not come as easily as day one did. But I think I grasped the entire concept behind this month as I sat stuck 1,000 words into the 2,500 word goal for today and finally had to say out loud: "It doesn't matter WHAT I write - just THAT I write." So I wrote. I had no idea where I was going with it and looking back - I love it. I am sitting now with two completed chapters and FIVE THOUSAND and SIX words. That's roughly 3000 words today.
I hope everyone else is doing as "snazzy" (to steal a quote from Cora Zane.) :-)
